Strengths/weaknesses of laparoscopy surgery

• Currently laparoscopy operation has become possible with 2-3 cuts 0.5-1㎝ long on a belly without laparotomy by the development of surgical devices and medical image technology. Usual laparotomy needs an abdominal incision about 10-15㎝ and frequently causes risks of pain, bleeding or infection. However in the case of laparoscopy surgery, there is no cut and almost no risk of pain, bleeding or infection. A patient can come back to life fast and does not have to worry about appearance. Almost every minor cause or operation led by laparotomy including diagnosis and treatment of fibroid, ovary, ectopic pregnancy and infertility is possible by laparoscopy. Especially, in comparison with laparotomy in view of infertility treatment, it reduces the time required for a trial of pregnancy after operation, and raises a rate of pregnancy success.
